Review: Delicious Reds 8000
October 28th, 2010
You can’t really get a better mixture of red berry powders than what’s in Delicious Reds 8000. It has a little of everything including goji, strawberry, pomegranate, acai and many many more. They certainly don’t scrimp on the ingredients. Plus, you get extras like resveratrol extract, tumeric, milk thistle, green tea and ginger root. Included is a high quantity of probiotics (more than most powders) and even some greens (spirulina, veggie powders and chlorella). Overall, this is a fantastic mixture and it tastes great. I’m not a big fan of stevia sweetened products, but this one is very well done with no stevia after taste. The only catch…it’s on the expensive side at $4.15 per ounce, proving the old addage…you get what you pay for.

Hi, I love the websites. They’ve been so helpful with all the different mixes.
What is your opinion on the Delicious Reds 8000 mix compared to Miracle Reds? Taste is not a concern.
Another question, I’m using Vitamineral Green. Do you think taking Spirulina (Pacifica) caps are helpful to include if the additional cost isn’t a concern?
Thanks!

Thanks Erik. I like both products you mention but I’d give Delicious Reds a slightly better grade. Still, it’s up to you and how your body responds to each. They are similar mixtures, but have some differences. As for the Spirulina caps, I would think that a daily dose of Vitamineral Green would have enough Spirulina and other greens to satisfy your needs, but if your body responds well to the extra caps, then go for it. Personally, I’d take extra vitamin B complex, Omega-3s from fish oils, and coQ10, rather than more Spirulina, but that’s me.

Thanks for the quick response!
Udo’s Omega blend has been the one staple I’ve used for several years now and I introduced coQ10 a few weeks ago along with the greens. I’m adding bee pollen very slowly, based on your best products article. I’ve read both scathing articles on it as well as very positive things from people that have used it, but the bad thing is I probably won’t notice anything with the other good things just introduced. Thank you for mentioning B-complex, I completely overlooked it.
I know I’m doing a lot of good things and don’t want to be pedantic but would you personally take 1 serving each of greens and reds continually, or do 2 servings of greens a day and then “cycle” to 2 of reds to give your body something different? I’m just curious oh wise one. :)

Erik, personally I prefer to cycle between greens and reds, rather than take both continually. But I’m don’t make it a hard rule. Some mornings I wake up and feel like a red drink smoothie and that’s what I make. Other mornings it may be a green formula with chocolate and banana. But I do tend to go in phases and give my body a break from a long run of just green drinks (or just red drinks).

Hi,
Do you know what red, blue, or fruit powders that aren’t sweet? I’m hypoglycemic and can’t tolerate much sweetness. Even the ones that say 3 grams of sugar per serving is too much. The only powder that I found that isn’t sweet is acai. But I’d like to add other powders too. Can you help? Thanks.

I’m not sure if you’ll find many formulated red drink mixtures that are not sweet, but you might find some individual fruit powders that fit. Check out the products from Native Naturals for a start. Besides Acai, you might try to find pomegranate powder (some are more sweet than others), prickly pear powder (bitter), and maqui fruit powder (similar to Acai). Good luck and let us know what you find.

There have been studies indicating that systemic use of aloe vera is not safe. There is good information on aloe vera at the Mayo Clinic web site. I am concerned that aloe vera is one of the ingredients in Delicious Reds 8000 and in so many green drinks.
